September’s Chester and North Wales Tribune

The September edition of the Chester and North Wales Tribune is now available and my column is of course well worth a little read, particularly if you are thinking of having a go at shooting a wedding yourself or asking a friend to do so. I have also shot the commercial pictures for a number of adverts this month (including the picture in the ad on the right) so as my contribution has been so high you would think they would change the name to the Steve Hale Tribune but no!

Paula & Matt – Wedding at Inglewood Manor

I’ve been waiting to post these for a few weeks now but as always we wait for the bride and groom to see them before showing them to the world. We absolutely loved doing Paula and Matts engagement shoot and their wedding day was no different. After a really nice and highly emotional service and some family photographs we went off to Inglewood Manor in Ledsham for a wonderful celebration. As I have mentioned before here, the grounds of Inglewood Manor are amazing and even if we were given a couple of hours you still would only be scratching the surface with the amount of photo opportunities there are. The good news is, that this is not the last you will see of Paula and Matt, we are planning a high fashion Love the Dress shoot with them soon:)

Emma & James – Chester Wedding

Remember the film Planes, Trains and Automobiles? At James and Emma’s wedding we didn’t have planes or trains but we did have cars, buses and a boat. After the service at the beautiful St Mary’s Church in Handbridge we walked down to the river for an impromptu ice cream and then onto the Lady Diana riverboat. The weather was amazing and it was really nice to be out on the Dee and after a short ride we arrived at the Red House Restaurant for the wedding breakfast. The was the first time we had been to the Red House but its now on our list to go back for a meal with lovely views over Chester and the food was excellent. It was then onto an open top bus for the trip into Chester for the evening reception at the Rowing Club. Here is a tip… if you ever go on an open top bus, get a seat, don’t think I will stand up at the back and take photos of the guests! After the low branches nearly took my head off and every speed bump nearly sent me down the stairs I worked that one out:)

August’s Chester and North Wales Tribune

With Septembers edition of the Tribune about to come out I remembered I hadn’t plugged my column in Augusts edition! So here it is, just in time. This month I am giving a few tips which will help when shooting outdoor portraits in strong light, and if you have a look in quality businesses in the local area you should still be able to pick up a copy. In next months edition I am talking about wedding photography with a few thoughts on getting better pictures even if you are not the primary photographer.

Natalie & Ian – Wedding at Holt Lodge Wrexham

When we first started out with weddings one of the first reception venues we photographed at was the Holt Lodge near Wrexham which was chosen by Natalie and Ian for their July wedding. It’s only a few miles down the road from us, and with their service being at St Marys Church also in Wrexham it was for once a nice close to home wedding for us.

Natalie’s fabulous dress was supplied by our friends at Simply Stunning in Wrexham and Laura from Regent House of Flowers as usual did a great job on the flowers, whilst Ian and the groomsmen were expertly dressed by Off the Cuff.

We were with the bride and groom until well after the first dance as we were just getting such good pictures on the dance floor, but we will leave those pictures off the blog and Natalie and Ian can have the pleasure of showing their family and friends what good dancers they are:)
